Primary Info (4-11 yrs)

Students from 4 to 11 years of age are grouped into 4 Key Stage classes of approximately 14 to 22 students.  Kindergarten begins as a half day programme that centers around Early Learning Goals and becomes a full day programme by the end of the first year.  Students in Key Stage One (grades 1 & 2), Key Stage Two A (grades 3 & 4) and Key Stage Two B (grades 5 & 6) study Art, English, Geography, History, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Mathematics, Music, Nepali Language, Personal and Social Education (PSE), Physical Education(PE), Religious Education (RE) and Science based on schemes of work from the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).  Students also study Cultural Studies, which looks at home countries studies, host country studies and issues of living in another culture. 

NOTE:

To start in Grade R at KISC, children are expected to be socially and emotionally ready for school. They need to be able to cooperate with their peers, relate to non-family authority figures, have basic motor skills and have some basic knowledge of colours, numbers, shapes and letters. Children should also be able to focus on one activity for 15-20 minutes.
