KISC Sports Facilities

  • KISC has a basketball court and a soccer pitch. Most of the Physical Education lessons and sporting Electives are taught in this area, including such sports as soccer, basketball, badminton, hockey, fitness training and touch rugby. All the equipment for these sports is provided by KISC.

  • KISC also has a fitness/weights room.

  • Our table tennis tables allow staff and students to brush up on their ping-pong skills on a regular basis. In the Assembly Hall the sound system is often used for dance, aerobics classes or gymnastics.

  • For the Primary children there is play equipment, a sand pit and a climbing frame.

  • In addition we use a local swimming pool to take the students swimming and to train the swimming team. We have also taken groups on rock climbing and abseiling trips with our own qualified instructors and safety equipment.

Electives

The KISC Elective programme runs throughout the year on Friday afternoons for grades 6-12 and on Wednesday afternoons for grades 1-6P. Students choose one elective each term. There are several purposes to this programme:

  • To provide students with an opportunity to pursue and enjoy various activities that will develop their God given talents, gifts and skills.

  • To develop relationships between students and foster a sense of community.

  • To provide an opportunity for teachers to build relationships with students in a more informal context than is normally possible.

Students really enjoy the Elective programme and the activities have been many and varied, including: paper-craft, swimming, football, table-tennis, pottery, self-defence, Nepali cookery, rugby, Swing dance, photography, volley-ball, tennis, snooker, community service, car maintenance, board games, singing or guitar lessons, woodwork classes and many others.  The choice of Electives depends entirely on the willingness and ability of staff and parents to run the different activities each term – we are all very grateful to those who have participated in the past and would encourage even more to have a go in the future as it is a very rewarding experience.
