As a result of a KISC community consultation it has been possible to develop
a set of values upon which KISC can base how it functions. These values
affect the whole spirit in which KISC operates and contribute to the whole
atmosphere in which we study and work. KISC aims to be “Christ-centred” and
provide an excellent learning environment and hopefully our values and
priorities reflect this. KISC also seeks to be a place where anyone who
works or visits can sense God’s presence and know something of His love and
power.
As teachers we have a large part to play in the practical outworking of
this. It is hoped that this Teachers’ Work document provides guidelines for
how we can implement our values through our work. It is also intended to
clarify what KISC’s expectations are of teaching staff and provide
information on basic terms and conditions with the aim of reducing
miscommunication.
KISC has never and we hope never will, operate on a strict “policy”.
Teachers are expected to work in a professional and autonomous way,
according to their own personal standards. This document hopefully allows
teachers to work in this way allowing for flexibility and individuality, as
well as creativity and personality. It is intended as a guide not a set of
rules.
The job descriptions and contracts have been developed to clarify
expectations regarding duties and times particularly.

Goodwill has always been a key word in the way in which KISC staff work.
People who come to teach at KISC are willing to offer freely of their
talents, time and energy. This is part of what makes KISC a very special
and rewarding place to work. In that sense it is impossible to “measure”
what teachers “give” and even more impossible to reward in a specific way.
