Secondary life

KISC has a sports area that includes a futsal court, basketball court and a large hall. Most of the Physical Education lessons and sporting electives are taught in these areas. This includes soccer, basketball, badminton, hockey and fitness training. Our table-tennis tables allow staff and students to regularly practise their ‘ping-pong’ skills. A local swimming pool provides swimming lessons for swim team practice. KISC is a regular participant in inter-school competitions that include swimming, basketball and football for both girls and boys.

Electives

The KISC elective programme runs throughout the year on Friday afternoons for Grades 6 to 12. Students choose one elective each term. The purpose of this programme is to:

  • Provide students with an opportunity to pursue and enjoy various activities that will develop their God given talents, gifts and skills

  • Develop relationships between students of all years and foster a sense of community

  • Provide an opportunity for teachers to build relationships with students in a more informal context than is normally possible

Students enjoy the many and varied activities such as: paper-craft, swimming, football, table-tennis, pottery, self-defense, cookery, rugby, swing dance, photography, volleyball, tennis, community service, board games, singing or guitar lessons and woodwork classes, to name a few. The choice of electives depends entirely on the willingness and ability of staff and parents to run the different activities each term.
