Secondary Curriculum

Our teaching philosophy is all about providing a great learning experience, one where students love being in the classroom and developing critical thinking skills. The classroom is a space where students feel valued by having the freedom to ask challenging questions, as well as express ideas and opinions.

KISC follows the world renowned Cambridge International Curriculum, where students in Grades 6-10 complete a compulsory general education that includes: Physical Education, Religious Education plus Personal, Social, Health and Economics (PSHE).

In Grades 11 and 12, students are able to specialise in their studies.

GRADES 6-8

Students are taught a broad range of subjects including: English, Mathematics, Science and Computer Science. All students also study Geography, History, Global Perspectives, Art and Music.

Those students whose first language is English need to study a second language. They can choose between French, Spanish, Korean, and Nepali.

GRADES 9-10

Students choose their options and work towards the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), studying a minimum of seven IGCSE subjects to meet our general education requirements. The two-year IGCSE courses culminate in external assessments by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

GRADES 11-12

Students work towards Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced Level (AL) CIE qualifications, the former being done in one year, with AL levels being studied over two years. The AS course makes up the first half of an AL qualification. All courses culminate in external assessment by CIE.

UNIVERSITY PREPARATION

KISC provides career counselling to aid students in finding the best university or college for their future studies. We also support students as they apply to universities and other organisations for both admission and scholarships.
