Admissions

Dear prospective students and families,

We are delighted you are considering Kathmandu International Study Centre (KISC) for your child or children. At KISC, we are seeking to provide an excellent education based on Biblical values. KISC was founded primarily for the mission community, and they remain our core focus. We also welcome many other expatriates and Nepali children who are interested in an excellent international education.

As a school, we also desire to be outward looking and so we support Nepali schools through our teacher training programme, Education Quality Improvement Programme (EQUIP).

Before you decide whether to apply to KISC please look through our website for more information on what goes on at the school to see if KISC would be a good fit for you and your child or children.

Thank you for your interest in KISC! We look forward to meeting you. For admissions questions or to learn more about our school, please contact the Admissions Office at 01-5570142, or contact us by email at admissions@kisc.edu.np.

Application Process

Please act respectfully and have patience with our staff as we help to process your child’s application.

The best way to find out if KISC is right for your family is to take the following steps:

1. Contact Us

Request information about KISC with our Admissions Coordinator. Please make sure to check availability in your child’s expected entry grade.

2. Schedule a tour

If you are in Nepal, schedule a guided tour with our Admissions Coordinator, otherwise, go to step 3.

3. Complete an application

The online application fee is $100 (USD). Follow this link to apply online. Please ensure that you add the required documentation for the application to be accepted. Please note that an application does not mean acceptance. You will receive an email from our Admissions Coordinator within two weeks of KISC receiving your child’s application with our next steps.

PLEASE CHECK THE PLACEMENT CHART BELOW, ACCORDING TO YOUR CHILD'S AGE BY 1 AUGUST. CHILDREN ENTERING PRE-K MUST BE 4 BY THE START OF THE TERM THEY WILL ENTER. AT THE END OF PRE-K, THE TEACHER WILL ASSESS THE STUDENT’S READINESS TO MOVE TO KINDERGARTEN OR TO COMPLETE ANOTHER FULL YEAR OF PRE-K.

4. Testing

Academic Testing for Pre-K through Grade 12 will be scheduled by the Admissions Coordinator. The testing helps KISC find your child’s strengths and areas of growth to help them succeed in the classroom.

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS WHOSE FIRST LANGUAGE IS NOT ENGLISH: All English Language Learner (ELL) students, or students whose first language is not English, will be assessed on their English language abilities. There is a minimum level of English required to access the learning environment at KISC and students who do not meet this are presently not able to enroll at the school. Any students who do not pass the minimum level to enroll at KISC can test again six months later. For those who are admitted, KISC has an ELL programme to enhance the skills of students and enable them to become proficient.

5. Parent Interview/Enrollment

Within two weeks of the academic testing, you will be informed by email if your child has been accepted for enrollment. If admitted, a meeting will be set up to meet with either the Head of the Primary School or the Head of the Secondary School to explain more about KISC and answer any questions you may have.
