We're proud to offer the International Duke of Edinburgh's Award (IDEA) at KISC! We aim to support young people on their journey of self-development, regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills, or interests, thus helping them find their purpose, passion, and place in the world. IDEA provides our students the opportunity to engage in voluntary service projects, develop skills, and go on exciting expeditions around Kathmandu, all with the aim of challenging them to discover the satisfaction of achievement.

Every year, we offer bronze, silver, and gold awards. Alongside the service and upskilling aspects, a key part of achieving the award is taking part in expeditions (adventurous journeys). KISC puts on three expeditions each year, and students can participate in one, two, or all three of them, meaning they can complete an award, work towards the completion of one, or even finish one award level and make significant progress towards a second (higher level) award. Adventurous journeys are categorised as:

  • Bronze: 2 days

  • Silver: 2 - 3 days

  • Gold: 3 - 4 days

Award Winners

In 2024-25, there were 20 students who achieved bronze awards, 10 each from both Grades 9 and 10. There were also two silver award winners, both from Grade 11. Congratulations on all your hard work, service and physical endurance.
