Regning Champions retain the Zuala Cup

On the final day of the Christmas Term, KISC held its annual inter-house Basketball tournament, the Zuala Cup. Boys and girls compete in both junior and senior Secondary matches for the coveted trophy. Last year, Makala were the clear-cut winners, but it was a much closer affair this year, especially in the boys’ section where Annapurna dominated in the senior boys, and Dhaulagiri the junior boys. It was a much different story in the girls’ tournament, where Makalu triumphed in both the senior and junior sections, being unbeaten throughout.

At the end of a very tight competition, both Makalu and Dhaulagiri were level on points, so it came down to points difference. With Makalu being totally dominant in the girls’ section and scoring so heavily, it was they who ran out winners for the second year in a row.

There were some standout individual performances during the tournament, with MVPs being awarded to Aahan Pandey (Annapurna) and Jay Maharjan (Dhaulagiri) in the senior and junior boys, respectively. For the girls, Zara Maharjan and Norisha Pradhan, both Makalu, were senior and junior MVPs, Zara becoming a two-time MVP, having won it last year. Congratulations to all of them, and to Makalu on becoming champions again!!
